Christmas with Mormon Tabernacle Choir

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square will perform their annual Christmas concerts in the Conference Center on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, December 14-16, 2017.

Christmas Concert Dancer Auditions Announced

The Choir is seeking experienced, enthusiastic dancers of all ages, ethnicities, shapes, and sizes with strong performance skills in the areas of musical theater, dance, ballet—especially male adult and children performers.

Auditions for will be held at the Ensign Stake Center (135 A Street, Salt Lake City).

  • Female dancers (ages 18 and above) on September 6 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Male dancers (ages 18 and above) on September 7 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Children dancers (boys and girls ages 8 and above) on September 9 at 10:00 a.m. 

Callbacks for dancers will take place on September 14 (Females/Males ages 18 and above) at 6:30 p.m. and on September 16 (Children, boys and girls ages 8 and above) at 4:00 p.m.  

Dancers should wear modest, comfortable clothing for movement; soft dance shoes or bare feet.

Each year in mid-October, the Christmas concert guest artist is announced on The Doug Wright Show on KSL Radio 1160 AM /102.7FM /ksl.com.

Ticket Distribution

Tickets are free but will be required. They will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Patrons will be able to see which nights are available and will know at the end of their selection which night they have received.

In mid-October, tickets will become available to the public only online at lds.org/events. Each patron will be able to request 4 tickets. Admission is open to those ages eight and over. There will be no phone requests for tickets, and tickets will not be available in person through the Conference Center Ticket Office.

No Tickets Required for December 17 Music and the Spoken Word

The 30-minute Music and the Spoken Word broadcast on Sunday, December 17 will contain music and guest artist performances from the evening concerts. This Sunday morning event at 9:30 a.m. will not require tickets.  Guests will need to be seated in the Conference Center by 9:15 a.m.

Relive the 2016 Christmas Performance!

Products from the 2016 Christmas Concert include a CD and DVDboth entitled O Come, Little Children, and a book called The Little Match Girl. They will be released on Friday, October 6.

The CD includes all the concert music. The DVD will include all the concert music plus bonus interviews with guest artist, internationally acclaimed tenor, Rolando Villazón, surprise guest Angela Brower, and a behind-the-scenes video on the making of “The Little Match Girl” sequence in the Christmas concert.

The Little Match Girl book includes the beloved Hans Christian Anderson’s tale— adapted by David Warner and beautifully illustrated by Greg Newbold—which was written for as the narration for the 2016 Christmas concert.  Warner’s retelling of the classic story reminds us that having the faith of a child, and showing unremitting love, will lift all who look heavenward for comfort and relief, no matter their circumstances.
